                          Student Scholarship Art Show

Stay tuned for information about our 2011 Student Scholarship Art Show! Below are the winners of the 2010 inaugural NCAC event and information sent out prior.

The North Country Arts Center is a not-for-profit organization. We have a mission to support emerging artists. This year we will reopen our Chestertown Art Gallery in May and decided it would be a good idea to invite North Country art students in Warren/Washington/ Hamilton and Essex Counties to be our first exhibitors. The exhibit is open to junior and seniors who are studying Art. Judges will select work to receive monetary awards. All students will receive a certificate.

The categories are Fine Art, Photography and Sculpture. Each Region participating will be responsible for establishing a method of choosing the entries to be submitted to the next level of judging. All work should be ready for hanging. (It need not be in a frame but a clean matt is suitable.) Delivery of art work will be accepted on both Friday, May 13th by arrangement and Saturday, May 14th 10-3pm.

Twenty four local schools were invited to show student work at the Chestertown Gallery. As of February 29th we have received yes replies from 6 schools: Glens Falls, Schroon Lake, North Warren Central, Mountainside Christian Academy, Fort Edward and Corinth. We are looking forward to hearing from others and know this will be an exhibit not to be missed. Looking forward to a new gallery season and encourage our membership to get there in May or June to see the students show. Opening reception is Friday, June 3, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The judges will be artist members of NCAC. There are three other members involved in developing the Annual Art Recognition Award exhibit in Chestertown. They are Michelle Winnie, Kathleen Roberts, and Joan Reid.
