The year 2009 was a turning point for North Country Arts Center. We decided not to
continue a long time project “On My Own Time” which required a lot of volunteer time
and decided instead to concentrate on how we could make our not-for-profit organization
work for our membership and extend North Country Arts Center further into the north
country. There is no actual center for North Country Arts Center. There never was a
center. The center in North Country Arts Center represents all regional artists. The office
where all Board meetings take place is a 6 Pine Street gallery in Glens Falls. The
mission is to encourage emerging artists.
Our hard working Board focuses on recruiting membership and member volunteers by introducing new activities including this years
Degas project and continued membership exhibits in City Hall Gallery. NCAC is again
sponsored the annual Juried Art Show at the new Crandall Library in January 2010. This
past year we were given a grant to pursue a statewide project in our area called “Art
Walks on the Feeder Canal”.
Colors of Fall was once again a big success held in Crandall
Park on Glen Street in September. Thanks to the efforts of Kate Austin and her team,
which included Beverly Saunders, Jon Segan and Linda North.
In 2010 we will be discussing artists workshops, extending a NCAC chapter into
Warrensburg area where it all began over thirty years ago, continuing our newsletters and
expanding web site memberships and revising our By-laws. Anyone interested may
call me at 747-7740.
I would like to welcome our 2010 Board members: Kate Austin,
Diane Collins, Frederick Holman, Margaret Klick, Beverly Saunders, Jon Segan, and
Michael George. Our webmaster is Judy Olson and newsletter editor, Crystal Eggleston.
